technical information

remind_me is a not Open Source software. The code is not available for download or inspection. The purpose of the demonstration is to allow you to preview the product/service exactly as if it were installed on your web site.

remind_me is 100% automated. Visitors apply and self-validate their registration; visitors provide their own messages, dates, and advance requirements; email notices are sent by an automatic server task run shortly after midnight GMT every day. Other automated tasks include purging unvalidated users from the database two weeks after sign-up, and purging reminders from the database once the event date for the reminder has passed. No intervention by the site operator is required.

Your web server needs to support php/MySQL and permit time-initiated tasks to provide a remind_me service. On a *nix server, cron tasks provide this functionality; on a Windows server, the task scheduler can provide this functionality [although other alternatives exist].

If you operate a web site and think you could use remind_me as a method of adding traffic or revenue to your site, contact us to ask about license and installation charges. Script customization is also available at commercial hourly rates.

About email and our messages: messages sent by the remind_me service use properly formed email message headers and are delivered reliably to all true domain email addresses.

AOL mail, some 'free' mail systems, and web-based email systems apply filtering to incoming emails that may result in remind_me messages being rejected or deleted, or placed in a 'junk' or 'spam' folder. It is your responsibility to adjust any necessary preferences or settings in your email program so that remind_me messages are delivered.
